Everything worth asking
Questions
The honest answers, including the ones that are not entirely in our favour. If what you need is not here, write to us and it will be here tomorrow.
Delivery and payment
How quickly will it actually arrive?
Order before 14:00 on a working day and it reaches you that same evening, between 17:00 and 21:00. Order later and it comes the next day. Gozo is next day, because the ferry sets the timetable, not us.
We hold our stock in Malta and deliver it ourselves. Nothing is shipped to you from abroad, so there is no customs step, no depot and no collection card under the door.
Can I pay cash when it arrives?
Yes. Choose cash on delivery at checkout and pay nothing until the box is in front of you. You are welcome to open it at the door. If it is not what you expected, hand it back and pay nothing.
Cash on delivery is cash only — we cannot take a card at the door. If you would rather pay in advance, checkout accepts card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Revolut.
What does delivery cost?
Nothing on orders of €35 or more. Below that it is €3.50, anywhere in Malta or Gozo. There is no surcharge for being far from the middle of the island.
What happens if I am not home?
We message you on WhatsApp before we set off, with a one-hour window, so this rarely happens. If it does, we take the box back and try again the next day at no extra charge. Twice. After that we will call and agree something that works.
We do not leave boxes with neighbours or behind plant pots unless you specifically ask us to.
Can you deliver it to someone else as a gift?
Yes, and it is one of the better reasons to buy from us. Put their address as the delivery address and add a note at checkout with what you would like written on the card. We hand it over in person and we never include a price anywhere in the box.
The diffuser
How does it work?
It is ultrasonic. A ceramic disc vibrates thousands of times a second and lifts a fine cool mist off the surface of the water. Nothing is burned and nothing is heated, so the fragrance is carried, not cooked.
Is it noisy?
There is no fan and no motor, so there is no hum. What you hear is the occasional faint tick of water, and most people stop noticing it within a day.
Does it switch itself off?
Yes. When the water runs out it shuts down on its own rather than running dry. There is also an intermittent mode if you would rather it worked in intervals than continuously.
How do I set it up?
- Fill with clean tap water to the marked line — not above it.
- Add three to six drops of oil, depending on how present you want the scent to be.
- Sit the lid back on and connect the USB-C cable.
- Press once for continuous, twice for intermittent, and hold to switch it off.
Start with three drops. It is much easier to add one more tomorrow than to live with a room that is too loud tonight.
How do I clean it?
Every week or so: empty it, wipe the bowl with a soft cloth and a little white vinegar, rinse, dry. Malta's water is hard, and limescale on the ceramic disc is the single most common reason a diffuser starts producing less mist. Five minutes of vinegar solves it.
Never put it under a running tap or in the dishwasher, and never fill it above the line.
Is there a guarantee?
Every diffuser carries the full two-year guarantee of conformity you are entitled to under European law. If it fails, we bring you a working one and take the old one away on the same visit.
The scents
What is actually in the bottles?
Fragrance oils in a base formulated to disperse properly in water. They are made in the European Union and labelled to EU rules, with the full ingredient and hazard information on the bottle. Always read and follow the information on the label.
We call them fragrance oils rather than essential oils because that is what they are. We would rather be accurate than fashionable.
Can I use my own oils in it?
You can, but the results vary. Neat oils that are not formulated for water tend to sit on the surface, scent the room unevenly and leave a film on the ceramic. Ours are built to disperse, which is most of the reason they behave.
How long does a bottle last?
At three to six drops an evening, a 10 ml bottle covers roughly six to eight weeks of daily use. Most people keep all three and change the scent with the season, or with the room.
Which one should I start with?
Bajja is bright and clean — salt air and citrus, the sea early in the morning. Ġnien is soft and green, a walled garden in April. Xlokk is the warm one — dry wood, stone, late afternoon.
If you are choosing for someone else, Bajja is the safest. If you are choosing for a living room in winter, Xlokk.
Are they safe around children and pets?
The bottles are fragrance concentrates, not something to be swallowed, and they carry child-resistant caps for that reason. Keep them closed and out of reach of children and animals, and store them away from direct sun.
In use, ventilate the room as you would with any fragrance. If anyone in the house — or any animal in it — is known to be sensitive to fragrance, please take advice from your doctor or your vet rather than from us.
Orders, returns and everything else
Can I change my mind?
You have thirty days, not the fourteen the law requires. Message us, we agree a time, and we collect it from the same door we delivered to. You never post anything.
Sealed oils can be returned like anything else. Once a bottle is open we cannot resell it — but if a scent is simply not you, we will swap it for another, once per order, free.
Can I swap a scent for a different one?
Yes, at your door. Tell us which one is not working and we will bring the replacement on our next run past you. No form, no return window, no restocking fee.
Do you have a shop I can visit?
No. Instead of a shop with a rent, we have a van and a phone. It is why the diffuser costs what it costs, and why we can be at your door tonight.
Can I get an invoice for my business?
Yes. Add your company name and VAT number in the notes at checkout, or write to us afterwards, and we will send a proper invoice by email the same day.
